MONEY raised by kind-hearted staff at a Broadway care home has been handed over to two specialist cancer charities.
Carers and residents at Brompton House raised £644.10 from a Macmillan coffee morning, during which kitchen assistant Becky Mantle undertook a sponsored head-shave.
The 36-year-old mother-of-one decided to take on the challenge after her aunt was diagnosed with cancer. She also lost a colleague to the disease.
The money was matched by healthcare provider Bupa, which operates the care home, and split between the Macmillan Unit at Evesham Community Hospital and Cancer Research UK.
Becky attended the hospital with fellow members of staff last week to hand over a cheque.
Activities co-ordinator, Elaine Major, said: “We wanted to give something to a local charity so we chose the unit and Cancer Research UK is quite close to our hearts here because we had a colleague who died from breast cancer and Becky’s aunt had just been diagnosed with it.”
