HEAVY rain on Saturday decimated last weekend's programme, however, several first round matches in the Evesham Sunday League's Evesham Mechanical Services Subsidiary Cup survived the downpours.

Third Division Stratford Yates surprised Division Two Anchor Fladbury with an extra time victory with the winner being struck by Carlo Giorgio.

Broadway United won through with victory over Ambassador who were a goal up at half time having scored through Crawford, Print and Jones.

The home side, though, proved too strong eventually hitting eight with goals from Hawkins (5), Sheridan (2) and Jeffs.

Salford Rovers recorded the biggest win of the season with a 15-goal stroll against Haven Harriers. Taylor (5), and Green (4) were among the scorers.

Division One Tewkesbury Town and Inkberrow both progressed. Town comfortably defeated Blockley Sports with Driscoll and Beasley both hitting trebles, while Inkberrow squeezed past Bury with goals from Dixon and Scrafton.

Willersey reached the last eight of the Tewkesbury Sports Knockout Cup with victory at Swan Sports. The home side led at half time through a Tomkotowicz goal but the visitors hit back with goals from Beale, Hands and Hill.

Guiting Rangers moved within three points of the top of Division One after another fine performance.

They led Bredon 5-0 at the interval but the visitors tightened up after the break in a 7-1 reverse. Luney (3), Hughes (2), Smith and Goodall were on the mark for rampant Rangers.

Upton Snodsbury remain firmly rooted to the bottom following a home defeat at the hands of Mickleton Rangers. Upton led at half time through a Rogers goal but goals from Tye and Robinson gave the visitors victory.

Third Division leaders Ashton lost their 100 per cent record as they were held at Riverside, Wilcox gave Ashton the lead but Riverside rallied and Cuthbert hit a deserved equaliser.

In Division Four, a Williams hat-trick moved Crown Athletic into third place with victory over Mountinneers.

It was a disappointing day for the league in the WFA County Cups. There are no representatives left in the Junior Cup with only Bretforton Old Boys and Red Horse progressing in the Minor Cup.
