CHRISTMAS FAIR: Longborough School holds its Christmas Fair on Saturday at the school between 2 and 4pm. Some of the children will be having stalls and there will be gifts, soft toys, crafts, home made produce, raffle and tombola. Father Christmas will be making a visit and seasonal refreshments will be available.

MILLENNIUM EVENT: Later on Saturday, Longborough, with Sezincote, are having a Millennium Celebration, by the village and for the village. At 7pm, all assemble with lanterns or torches at St James church for prayers and a hymn led by Rev Stephen Wookey. Then, the villagers will be summoned by bells to the village hall where they will make their way in a candlelit procession. A glass of mulled wine will greet everyone followed by bangers and mash at 7.45pm. At 8.15pm there will be a raffle for village charities followed by a village entertainment and then dessert and coffee. More entertainment at 9.30pm. Entry by programme, £5, from Martin at the Village Shop.

ART OPEN DAY: On Monday, the Longborough Art Group can be seen in action during their open day which is between 10am and 4.30pm at the village hall. In the snooker room at the hall, a display of the members finished work can be inspected.

COFFEE MORNING: A charity coffee morning is being held at The Balls' home, behind the Post Office, between 10am and 12noon. Admission 50p, for coffee and a mince pie with proceeds to British Heart Foundation and the Leckhampton Court Sue Ryder Home.

GARDEN CLUB: Longborough Garden Club meet on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in the village hall for their Christmas Social evening.

FRIENDLY CLUB: The Longborough Friendly Club held its AGM last month when future events were discussed and a bring and buy was held. The Club's Christmas lunch is on December 11 at the Fosse Manor Hotel.

DRAMA GROUP: Members of the drama group are to make a visit to the Playhouse, Cheltenham, next Thursday, when they will enjoy a performance of Gilbert and Sullivans' "Utopia" by the Cotswold Savoyards.
