THURSDAY CLUB: Over 30 members and friends joined the coach on November 16 for the Thursday's Club outing to Hereford for Christmas shopping. Travelling via Malvern Hills, where the autumn colours of the trees and hedgerows were indeed spectacular. A stop was made at Ledbury for coffee, then it was on to Hereford, where the shops were bright for Christmas, which made shopping a pleasure. Lunch was obtained and many members visited the cathedral, with it's historical chained library, and map. After a welcome cup of tea and a view of the Christmas lights, it was homeward bound. Raffles were held, and winners were Mesdames: V Mills, E Bonnes, P Beadle, E Rayner, K Welch, J Vaughan, J White and J Graves. Appreciation was accorded to Mrs A Mole for organising the outing and to the coach driver.

GARDEN CLUB: At the meeting of the Garden Club held at the village hall on November 21, Mr P Eyden, chairman, welcomed many members on a very wet evening. Members had entered many photographs in sections of gardens, pets and views etc. These were judged by Mr L Wager, and winners were: Mr F Fincher, Mrs M Putnam, Mr D Walton, Mrs A Harvey and Mrs D Godwin. Refreshments were organised by, Mrs P Beadle and Mrs O Newbury. A light-hearted plant quiz was conducted by Mr P Eyden and won by, Mesdames: S Smith, Y Walton and O Newbury. Raffles were held and won by, Mrs I Pulfer, Mrs P Beadle, Mrs Y Walton and M Comerford. The club's next meeting on January 16 at the Bell Inn, and will be a skittles evening.

WHIST DRIVE: The whist drive held at the village hall on November 23, was organised by Miss F Ricketts and Mrs B Hodges, to raise funds for the County Air Ambulance. Mr John Chester was MC. Mr C Bromfield, drawmaster. Twelve and a half tables in play. Whist, raffles and mystery prizewinners included, Mrs E Warner, Mr L Gunter, Mrs O Wells, Mr E Willis, Mrs J Palmer, Mr D Bunn, Mrs H Archer, Mr J Chester, Mrs M Halling, Mrs N Bennett, Mrs M Davies, Mrs D Yarwood, Mrs J Washbourne, Mr R Davis, Mrs W Norris, Mrs Hickmott, Mrs P Miles, Mrs J Rose, Mr D Crook, Mrs P Jeynes, Mr G Bennett, Mrs C Skirten, Mr C Griffin, Mrs C Evans, Miss F Ricketts, Mrs M Hunt, Mr D Crook, Mrs O Taylor, Mr F Jeffreys, and Mrs E Hawkes. Refreshments were served at the drive, and Mr Chester reminded members that the date of the Christmas drive, was now, December 21.
