I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with your correspondent who railed against the despoiling of our towns and villages with attempts to raise awareness of the speed limits in force (A rising tide of angry motorists, Journal, November 23).
However, I would back any measure that may save the life of my children and preserve the peace of my village.
If this "usually silent majority of motorists" occasionally glanced at their speedometers, all these measures would be unnecessary.
The sooner that speeding attains the same anti-social status as drink-driving, the more tolerable our lives will be.
In the meantime, if the price we have to pay to attempt to deter the inconsiderate driver is additional signage and some red paint, then it is more than worthwhile.
