Council Tax payers warned of phone scam

COUNCIL tax payers in Evesham and Pershore are urged to be vigilant after scammers targeted homes in south Worcestershire.

Several reports made by who householders received phone calls from people claiming to offer them a council tax refund and then attempting to gain bank details and pin numbers.

Jean Mann, revenues manager for south Worcestershire, said: “We want to warn residents not to give out their bank details or pin to anyone, especially regarding council tax.

“For refunds, we will put information in writing and would never as for residents’ pin numbers.”

Police have been informed of the incidents.
