TWO community choirs will be joining forces for charity on Saturday as they present this year’s Voices In The Vale concert at the Number 8 Arts Centre in Pershore.

Winchcombe Community Choir and Move On Up, based in Pershore, will be combining their voices to create an evening of music in a mix of singing styles, and reflecting a broad range of different cultures from around the world.

The unique programme includes sounds from the Pacific Rim, the Balkans, Africa, America and Europe, as well as some pop favourites with a mix of male and female, a cappella, solos and duets.

The event is in aid of local youth music in the form of the Riverside Youth Centre, in Pershore, and Street Voice – a new Vale-based singing project for teenagers, which it is hoped will form in the new year.

The choirs will be led by natural voice practitioner Alice Robin, who formed both choirs that consist of local amateurs who have all learnt by ear.

Alice said: “Both choirs sing powerful and uplifting harmonies from many cultures around the world, and we particularly like the gutsy ‘rough around the edges’ songs from cultures where singing is part of everyday life.

“Judging by the sell-out success of last year’s concert this will be an uplifting and heart-warming experience and not to be missed.

“Both a cappella choirs are open to all voices and these singers, together with the audience, will come together as one mass choir to raise the rafters.”

The concert will take place at Number 8, in Pershore High Street, on Saturday, November 19, from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £8 available from Blue, in Broad Street, Pershore, or from 01386 552 847.
