It's back to the future ..... It's back to the future .....

THIS is the first glimpse of Evesham’s new Abbey Bridge – which bears a remarkable similarity to the old one.

Set to be closed to traffic next summer while £12.6 million work is carried out to replace the 84-year-old crossing, businesses and residents are concerned about the impact road closures will have on the town’s economy.

Worcestershire County Council is now consulting on two different options to keep traffic moving through the town.

Very good to see the new design for the New Bridge to replace the 'New Bridge' (as my Grandparents used to call it!). I notice the New Bridge will have a 120 year guarantee. Did the 'New Bridge' built 84 years ago have a similar guarantee? Maybe the Journal has some archive information on this. Very pleased to see the design for the New Bridge is a replica of the 1928 'New Bridge'. A bit like the New Mini replacing the 1959 'New Mini' car!
