RESIDENTS living near an Evesham school have voiced their disgust at the removal of trees from the school’s grounds.
Contractors have this week been cutting down trees around the perimeter of Evesham High School.
Kevin Lewis of nearby Oak Tree Close said: “We had a letter on Friday saying they were going to do it, but what about the wildlife? There have been squirrels and owls there.”
Lisa Hill, also of Oak Tree Close, said the family had been sitting in the garden when the work on the trees started on Monday.
“They cut the trees down right next to us without asking us to move. My mother got sprayed all over with the wood chippings.
“We only had the letter Thursday or Friday We had no notice at all. We have a pond with newts in. The tree cuttings could poison it.”
No-one from the school, currently on its half term break, or the local education authority was able for comment this week.
