NEW PRESIDENT: Pershore Rotary Club members celebrate the appointment of Judith Gath. NEW PRESIDENT: Pershore Rotary Club members celebrate the appointment of Judith Gath.

PERSHORE Rotary Club has welcomed in its first female president.

The club, which raised £13,163 in the past year for charitable causes including Macmillan Cancer Support, has bid farewell to outgoing president Martin Butler, who has passed the chain of office to Judith Gath.

The physiotherapist and acupuncturist thanked Mr Butler and said she hoped the club would support more Pershore charities while also continuing to back her main charity, Acorns Children’s Hospice.

She said: “A major project this year which really will be at the heart of the community will be to fund a defibrillator to be located in Broad Street.”
