VANDALS torched a playhouse at an Evesham charity for children with learning difficulties, in a third attack in just two months.

The wooden playhouse, filled with equipment and toys, was set alight between 7pm and 7.30pm last Tuesday and will cost the group more than £1,000 to replace.

The area where the incident took place is rented by Avon Vale Special Needs Playgroup, from Evesham Adventure Playground, at Woodlands near Davies Road.

Janet Arnold from the Avon Vale Special Needs Playgroup said: “At the moment the children can’t even use the grass area outside as it is too smoke damaged.

“We don’t have any idea why we are being targeted.

“We are very upset about it, we have done a lot of fund-raising and this is one more thing we need to raise money for.”

Kath Jones of the Evesham Adventure Playground said they may have to cut services if the vandalism continued.

“If we have to divert funds in to replacing this equipment we will have to look to other things such as our all-weather sports area as areas to save money,”

she said. “We may have to cut back on our free services.”

Police are investigating and anyone with information should call 03003 333000 and quote incident number 233N 170712.
