EVESHAM is set to persevere with its Balloon Festival, despite the past two events being hit by the weather.

The festival has gone ahead for the past two years with an almost total absence of balloons. This year and last, events were limited to the ground on Crown Meadow as strong winds and wet weather made balloon rides unsafe.

However, at VECTA’s (Vale of Evesham Commerce and Tourism Association) last meeting, members agreed that they wanted the festival to continue in its current form, despite its success depending on the weather.

Other elements such as model aircrafts, boats and cars could be added to the show to give it more appeal if the weather once again grounds balloons.

• VECTA’s next meeting will be held at Impact Security’s offices, High Street, Evesham, at 6pm this evening.
