Girlfriend’s good turn
11:00am Monday 20th August 2012 in News
A 28-YEAR-OLD man was saved from prison when his girlfriend turned up to vouch for him at Worcester Crown Court.
Thomas Hampton had breached a 32-week suspended jail sentence order by not keeping in contact with the probation service.
He claimed that he had been living in Liverpool trying to cure his drink problem. But he had given himself up at Evesham police station and wanted to continue working with the probation service. Hampton said he wanted to return to live in Shepherds Pool, Evesham. Rebecca Hirons said she held the tenancy and Hampton was welcome to return. Judge Robert Juckes QC told Hampton that he was fortunate to have such support.
Hampton must observe a 7pm to 7am curfew with an electronic tag for three months.
