Good prices for Cotswold sheep

A RESPECTABLE number of quality Cotswold sheep were put forward at the society’s annual sale under the auspices of Voyce Pullin’s Rare and Native Breed sale at Cirencester Market.
The previous evening the sheep had been graded and judge Robert Boodle awarded the breed championship and the Peter Walwyn Challenge Trophy to the senior ran, Queenford Jago, owned by Angela Reid, of Dorchester.
First into the sale ring, Jago made 460gns, the highest price of the day. Mrs Reid, chairman of the society, said:
“Getting a sheep into sale condition takes a good deal of preparation. I am very pleased with the price paid for Jago and for many of the other Cotswolds.”
The largest class of sheep forward was 20 quality ewes, the majority from Davina Stanhope’s prize-winning Tingewick flock from Shrewsbury, and Pat Quinn;s renowned Harford flock based at Naunton.
