Clerk to go after 16 years
6:30pm Monday 10th September 2012 in News
STEPPING DOWN: Philip Ord is retiring from his job as Willersey parish clerk.
AFTER spending 16 years serving the village of Willersey, parish council clerk Philip Ord has decided to call it a day.
Mr Ord’s retirement comes after parish council chairman Maurice Andrews retired earlier this year.
He said: “I decided to go at the same time as Maurice. I have really enjoyed the job. I am sorry to be going in some ways.
“It is a way of life rather than a job. People come to you at all times with problems.
“I have enjoyed being part of the village. It is a lovely place and a really good parish council but it is time to hang up my pencil.”
Mr Andrews said that Mr Ord had served the village and the council through some difficult times.
He added: “In paying tribute to his sterling work, I know of and can refer to the valuable support and help that Jenny has given Philip.
“Before the recent establishment of the parish council office their home was the office and she played a very important part.
“We wish them well in their future and express our appreciation and thanks for all they have done for the council and the village.”
