Ex-Marine proud that his Olympic mission is complete

MISSION COMPLETED: Ex-Marine Arthur Williams. MISSION COMPLETED: Ex-Marine Arthur Williams.

AS the country begins to recover from the excitement of the London Olympics and Paralympics, a Worcestershire man can regard his mission as complete.

When ex-Royal Marine Arthur Williams, of Aston Somerville, near Evesham, was chosen from hundreds as one of the presenting panel for the London Paralympics he vowed to change the mindset of people about the games.

And now he says the coverage of this year’s event had set the bar for disabled sport.

“It was epic and one of the proudest moments of my life,” said Mr Williams, who was paralysed below the waist in a car crash in 2007. “I hope it will carry on now. The athletes definitely got the recognition they deserved. Mission completed – it absolutely must continue.”
