A REMEMBRANCE service has been held in Evesham to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

The Evesham branch of the Royal Air Force Association hosted the annual service last Friday at Waterside Cemetery.

About 40 people turned out for the event and during the service a wreath was laid and crosses were placed on graves.

Robin Phillips, secretary of Evesham RAFA, said: “We did something a bit different this year by placing the crosses on all graves.

“Next year we are hoping some young people from a school will come along.

“It’s better than a history lesson.

“The main thing is to remember and pass that on to the next generation.
