FOODIES can try a taste of Worcestershire rapeseed oil on Saturday as Croome Classics will be doing a tasting session at Revills Farm Shop in Defford.

Rebecca Troughton, producer of the 100 per cent cold-pressed rapeseed oil, will be on hand to answer questions at the event.

Rapeseed is becoming more widely used and is known as a perfect alternative to the usual vegetable and sunflower oils.

Ms Troughton started the company in November last year when she had her first tonne of rapeseed pressed from Croome Farm, which she farms with her husband.

She said it took time to develop the brand but the first bottles went on sale in the county in June this year.

“The best thing about this product is that it will heat to 240ºc for amazing roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings,” said Ms Troughton.

“It’s a versatile and healthy oil that can be used for drizzling in salads and mayonnaise as well as for frying.”

The event will take place between 10.30am and noon at the farm shop on Bourne Road, Defford.
