A VALE business was recognised for its environmental credentials at a recent awards ceremony.
Kanes Foods, which is based in Middle Littleton, was presented with the University of Worcester award for sustainability at the Chamber Business Awards at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern.
The plaudit comes just months after the company opened a new salad factory with state of the art technology, including a roof covered in grass, making it one of the most advanced of its type in the UK.
Roger Beard, director at Kanes, said: “Kanes convinced the judges the design of the factory was an assertion by management that business could grasp environmental and social responsibilities while remaining efficient.
“That Kanes had created a new role of environment manager added further credibility to the intentions of the company to build a reputation as a champion of environmental issues.”
