Slimline Wesley taking on run

AN Evesham man will take on a half-marathon this weekend after losing 11 stone in weight over the past two years.

Wesley Emms, of West Street, decided to make a change when he tipped the scales at 26 stone in 2010.

After the weight loss, achieved with the support of Jason Harvey, who opened nearby gym, Phoenix Fitness Solutions, he is raring to go at the Oxford half-marathon on Sunday.

The 31-year-old, who has almost reached his target weight of 14 stone, said that only two years ago he would never have been able to take part in the endurance event.

“I had always been stocky but, after my kid was born, I found it harder and harder to go out and exercise after work.

“I gradually became bigger and realised I had to do something when I hit 26 stone.

“Phoenix had just opened and I met with Jason to chat about my aims. The results have been amazing. I’m looking forward to Oxford this weekend and it’s all thanks to Jason and just a bit of willpower.”

The man with the plan, Mr Harvey, explained how he helped Mr Emms get back into shape.

“It’s a case of looking at what an individual hopes to achieve and agreeing a manageable plan to get there,” he said.

“Wesley is great to work with because he is focused on his goals and sticks to his plan. His results have been fantastic and it shows others that they can achieve their aims too.”
