Crash biker dies - man arrested
A WOMAN was killed this morning following a crash between her motorbike and a car.
The woman was declared dead at the scene following the crash on the A46 between the villages of Beckford and Ashton under Hill near the Worcestershire-Gloucestershire border.
The incident happened at around 9.45am and involved a black Peugeot 308 and a Kawazaki 650CC motorbike.
The driver of the Peugeot, a man in his 40s from Bristol, was unharmed has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody at Worcester Police Station.
The biker - a woman in her 40s - was declared dead at the scene by a doctor from the Air Ambulance. Her next of kin have been informed.
The collision led to road closures and local diversions on the A46 while emergency services attended the scene and police collision investigators collected evidence. The A46 was reopened at 1.40pm.
Sergeant Matt Eddy, whose team dealt with the collision, said: "I can sadly confirm that despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, the biker died at the scene shortly after the collision.
"We've spoken to a number of witnesses, but we would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who saw either the car or motorbike travelling along the A46 this morning."
