Football club’s wait

EVESHAM United will have to wait a little longer before discovering if it will be allowed to use its new clubhouse for non-football events.

Wychavon planners decided to defer a decision on plans submitted by the club to allow it to use the premises for nonfootball events between 10am and midnight.

Bernie Jordan, a club committee member, said the club had raised £5,500 for charity since opening and hoped to engage more with the community.

He added: “We have travelled a very long and at times difficult road to provide the best football and sports complex in the county.”

Coun Roma Kirke and Coun Wendy Dyke both spoke against the proposal raising concerns over parking, noise and adding that the clubhouse could draw people away from town centre venues.
