Woman dies after collision

A WOMAN died in a crash between her motorbike and a car.

Diana Burgess, aged 40, was declared dead following the crash on the A46 between the villages of Beckford and Ashton-under- Hill on Tuesday morning.

The driver of the Peugeot, a man in his 40s, from Bristol was unharmed. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on bail until December.

The incident happened at 9.45am and involved a black Peugeot 308 and a Kawazaki 650CC motorbike. The crash led to road closures and local diversions on the A46 while emergency services attended the scene and police collision investigators collected evidence. The road was reopened at 1.40pm.

Sergeant Matt Eddy, whose team dealt with the collision, said: “Despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, the biker died at the scene shortly after the collision.”
