DRAMA unfolded in the centre of Pershore when a bus full of passengers ploughed into a parked van and car.

Eye witnesses said the van was shunted several metres along Pershore High Street when the 551 Evesham to Worcester service crashed at about 12.30pm on Friday.

Ambulance crews attended but no one was hurt. The road reopened at 1.15pm.

Nicky Carr, cover manager at Blue Cross, said: “Luckily, the driver of the van was inside the shop at the time.

The bus basically used the van to stop. There was a customer donating items and it knocked into their car first.

It moved the van halfway down the street.

“Apparently it was a problem with the brakes.

How no one was hurt was a miracle.”

In a statement, bus operator First confirmed it was aware of the incident and said it was investigating. A spokesman said: “No passengers were hurt and the vehicle involved is being tested for faults and repairs.”

A police spokesman said it was unlikely officers would be looking into the crash as no one was hurt and only the vehicles were damaged.

He said: “An ambulance attended but no one was injured.
