A TEAM of students at Pershore High School have secured themselves a place in the final of a national engineering competition.
Over the past year the team has taken part in the national Engineering Education Scheme, which allows students to work with Pershore company Allen Gears.
They learn to solve real world problems, experience engineering first hand and the experience prepares them for a future career in the industry.
The school’s team achieved a BA Crest for its design and solution along with winning an award for most creative solution at the Regional Big Bang competition and this has seen them secure a place at the national finals in March. Some of the pupils involved were George Stephens, Simon Cartwright, Andrew Hemming and Carys Evans.
George said: “The National Science and Engineering Competition has taken us on an amazing journey. We have definitely got our sights set on the big prize while at the Big Bang Fair in London next March.
“The best and most important discoveries and inventions are down to science and engineering, and this contest has helped us to realise that we want to be part of that in the future.”
