Takeaway worker cleared of Evesham attack

A WORKER at an Evesham takeaway has been cleared of a late-night attack two years ago on a man standing outside.

A jury at Worcester Crown Court retired for 30 minutes at the end of a 10-day trial before returning a not guilty verdict on 38-year-old Mustafa Kilicaslan, of Bridge Street, Evesham.

He had denied inflicting grievous bodily harm on 22-year-old Gavin Crouch, who had to spend ten days in hospital with a fractured skull.

The court heard that Mr Crouch had been drinking with friends at a nightclub and could remember nothing until he awoke in hospital with pains in his head.

Witnesses said he was punched once in the face while talking with a friend outside Marco's Pizza in the early hours of October 9, 2010. He fell backwards and hit his head on the ground.

Kilicaslan claimed he was not the person who threw the punch. His barrister, Martin Steen, submitted that no-one present at the night had been able to identify Kilicaslan
