A SPECIAL meeting that could signal the end of controversial plans to build 700 new homes on the outskirts of Malvern will take place next month.

As the Malvern Gazette exclusively revealed, the extraordinary meeting was demanded by members of Malvern Hills District Council to discuss potential last-minute alterations to the South Worcestershire Development Plan - a planning blueprint to guide where houses and employment land are placed over the next 20 years.

The council has today confirmed that this meeting will take place at The Bank House, in Bransford, at 7pm on Tuesday, November 13.

Councillors will discuss changes being recommended by a policy group set up earlier this year to look at alternatives to the current plan.

The contents of the group’s report have not been made public but the Gazette understands it calls for an urban extension of 700 homes at Newland to be slashed to just 250 properties.
