THE owners of a Worcester chip shop, devastated by fire five years ago, are celebrating after reaching 40 years as a family run business.

Andreas and Androulla Mougis moved to Worcester from West Bromwich in July 1977 and bought the Seacrest Fish Bar on London Road, running it for nearly three decades before Andreas had to retire due to ill health, later having a successful kidney transplant.

After it was sold to new owners, in 2012, there was a devastating fire in the shop which forced it to close for more than a year.

But Costas, the son of Andreas and Androulla, later bought it in December 2014, returning it back to the family-run business he was taught to him by his parents.

And the firm is thriving now earlier this year successfully introducing a chip shop loyalty card scheme, in which customers can collect stamps to get a free portion of chips.

Andreas Mougis said: "My wife and I are so happy to be celebrating 40 years at the Seacrest and we are proud that it is back in the family.

"We would like to thank our loyal customers for supporting us over the last 40 years."

Costas added: "My parents built a reputation in the city for quality - I have a great staff team behind me and we have continued that reputation and intend to for many years to come."
