THE business community has swung into action to raise thousands at a charity golf day.

The Prince’s Trust Herefordshire and Worcestershire Development Committee recently held its fundraising golf day at Worcestershire Golf Club.

A total of 20 teams, made up of business owners and professionals from across the two counties, enjoyed a round of 18 holes of the Malvern-based course.

An evening prize presentation rounded off the day with GJS Dillon taking home the coveted first prize trophy.

The event, which has become well established and successful, also included an inspirational talk from Allana Watson, a young ambassador of The Prince’s Trust, who shared her experience of the Trust’s “Get Into NHS” programme.

A raffle also raised extra cash.

The event, sponsored by Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants, raised an astonishing £8,350 which included a donation of £2,000 from The Rowland’s Trust.

Ian Smith, chairman at Bishop Fleming and a trustee of The Rowlands Trust, said: “We have supported The Prince’s Trust annual golf day for the last 10 years and we really appreciate the ongoing support of the local business community.

"This year’s event raised an amazing amount of money, all of which will be used to help disadvantaged young people within Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

"Bishop Fleming are proud to be committee ambassadors for The Prince’s Trust and would encourage other local businesses to support this worthy cause where they can.”
