A WORCESTER company has been given a significant funding boost as it celebrates reaching a milestone.

Jointmedica, in Main Road, Hallow, has received a grant from Innovate UK to press ahead with its crucial work.

The grant came as a result of help from accountancy firm Moore Stephens.

Jointmedica is committed to improving the quality of hip and joint replacement. Primarily an orthopaedic design and development think-tank, staff work with implant creators to refine their ideas before putting them in contact with established sales companies.

The company is celenbrating 10 years of trading this year.

Terence Smith, managing director of Jointmedica, said: “This award, coupled with support from our investors and the local government, marks another significant milestone for Jointmedica. Our forward-looking strategy is secured with this commitment from Innovate UK, which provides us provision to design and develop activities surrounding one of our core projects.

“We look forward to continuing this trend of successful collaborations as we move through 2018.”

Innovate UK works with people, companies and partner organisations to find and drive the science and technology innovations that will grow the UK economy.

The grant given to Jointmedica will go towards creating new joint replacement mechanisms such as the Birmingham Knee Replacement (BKR), which is manufactured and distributed by the company and was developed to address the poor patient satisfaction scores commonly associated with ‘regular’ knee replacements on the market.

Suk Aulak, partner at Moore Stephens, said: “Jointmedica is an innovative company making great strides and genuinely helping people. They have spent 10 years striving to improve the quality of orthopaedic design. We are pleased to have been able to help them access funding which will enable them to continue moving forward.”
