A WORCESTER firm of solicitors has helped a popular swimming club to hold its annual awards evening with a generous donation.

Lawyers at Tything-based Mfg Solicitors gave £550 to Worcester Swimming Club to help them showcase the swimming talent among its 518 members, who are mostly aged between seven and 18-years-old.

The event, held at Sixways Stadium, celebrated the club’s competitive swimmers who competed at their 2017 championships with a number of stand out swimmers recognised.

They included 11-year-old David Annis who won the sought-after President’s Cup for breaking a record in the pool by the biggest percentage.

In the all-round categories of the club championships, William Gearey, was awarded male junior swimmer of the year while Megan Annis took home the junior female award.

Meanwhile, in the senior category, Samuel Hall won the male section with Olivia Fletcher taking the female title.

The 2017 awards evening was the icing on the cake for the club after a successful year where they also made the Arena League National Finals for the first time.

Sam Pedley, partner at Mfg Solicitors, presented many of the awards at the event.

Mr Pedley said: “It’s always been a big thing for us to support local sporting talent.

"The awards evening showed just how many first-class young swimming stars we have here in Worcester.

“Worcester Swimming Club relies on a variety of volunteers so it was brilliant to see those often un-sung heroes, and the coaches, recognised alongside boys and girls of all ages.

"Congratulations again to everyone involved and we will be tracking their progress closely.”
