WORCESTER-based Sanctuary Group has reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging gender diversity in the technology sector, by signing a charter.

In signing the PwC Tech She Can Charter, Sanctuary - which employs more than 1,000 staff in the city - joins a host of national and international organisations in pledging to work together to generate a lasting increase in the number of women in technology roles.

At present, just 17 per cent of technology workers in the UK are female.

While women make up 33 per cent of Sanctuary’s technology workforce, by joining the charter Sanctuary is further committing to increasing the diversity of its workplace by ensuring inclusive access and supporting attraction, recruitment and retention practices. The group has already signed up to the Tech Talent Charter, pledging to encourage gender diversity in the technology sector.

Craig Moule, Sanctuary Group’s chief financial officer, said: “As a leading social housing and care provider, Sanctuary Group is committed to equality and diversity in the workplace and to being an inclusive employer where all staff are able to reach their full potential.

"Signing the charter demonstrates that commitment."
