THIS month it was a “members evening”, which meant that the committee could sit back and let others have a chance to organise activities. It was an excellent meeting as Angela Bilboe, acting president, provided a very enjoyable and varied programme. The evening began with the usual business meeting in which Bev Robinson, as acting secretary, gave out notices of future events, which included the WFWI Spring Meeting at Bromsgrove.

Before the fun commenced we had a delicious supper of tea, coffee and cakes. During this time we were able to have a look at the competition entries and see what activities were on offer. Jean Rogers had brought her pet ferret to visit us. Rosie was a very sociable albino ferret who enjoyed all the attention she was getting!

For the rest of the evening we enjoyed trying our hand at colouring, stencilling, sewing lavender bags, playing Mah Jong or having a hand massage. There was something for everyone so a very busy and happy time was had by all.

The theme of the competition was “England”, and this was won by Janet Collis with Angela Griffith and Jean Rogers in second and third place.

The next meeting will be on February 9, when Heather Greenhalgh will talk to us about “Teaching in HMP Long Lartin”. We have been very pleased to welcome several new members recently and hope to see even more in the future, so please come along to Wulstan Hall, Priest Lane at 7.30pm on the second Thursday in the month.
