THE Centre had an excellent afternoon visit to The Guide Dogs National Breeding Centre, where we were shown adorable puppies and were able to experience what it is like to be blind.
Members were blindfolded and led through a corridor with lots of obstacles.
The speaker for the September meeting had to cancel at the last minute and was replaced by Mr Vince Williams with a talk entitled 'His Personal Pilgrimage to K2', which is in Pakistan and is the second highest mountain in the world.
A relative of Vince who had climbed to the summit in 1995 sadly lost his life when together with others he was blown off the mountain on the descent.
The Tombola the previous month had raised £64 and will go towards our chosen charity.
The next meeting will be on October 25 at Peopleton Village Hall 10.30am for 11 and the speaker will be Madeen Watson with a talk entitled Hearing dogs for the deaf.
Visitors and new members very welcome.
