Pebworth & District WI
Getting well and truly into the Christmas spirit at the start of December were over 60 members and their guests at the WI Christmas party. We were welcomed with mulled wine, and festive decorations and the buffet table was soon filled with delicious food brought by members to share. After a rousing rendition of “Jerusalem” with Pam adding a Christmas flavour to her piano playing, Jenny, our president, welcomed everyone and reminded our members of some of the WI events coming up such as the WI group carol service in Bengeworth and the many village Christmas events too. Lots of items that the Knit and Natter group have produced this year have been donated to the Shoebox Appeal and are on their way to Romania. And Heather was on hand to take contributions to our new savings club. We all then had the pleasure of listening to the fabulous Ruby Lamont, with songs from the 40’s, 50s and 60s. We seemed to know all the words and she even managed to persuade backing groups to join her on stage for two of the numbers ! After David Lees, on behalf of all the guests had thanked the WI for such a fantastic evening the Christmas party ended with many excited winners choosing their raffle prizes.
