It was good to see so many members at our Annual General Meeting in May. For the first part of the evening Gill held a quick general meeting in which Maureen gave an informative talk on this year's national resolution: Mental Health Matters. It was agreed unanimously to support such an important resolution. We then had a few minutes break before the AGM opened.

Jean O'Loughlin, secretary, gave a detailed report of our various activities and talks during the last year, mentioning highlights such as the visits to the memorial arboretum at Alrewas in June and The Royal Mint later in the year. Under the leadership of Angela Bilboe the craft group has gone from strength to strength this year. We are all acquiring lots of new skills! Gill followed this with her president's report, thanking everyone and the committee particularly for their support during the year.

After the AGM the “serious” business of the evening began when we all had to judge the various puddings made by the members for this month's competition: My favourite pudding. This involved tasting a wide variety of delicious desserts before the winners were declared! The winner was Janet Cullis, with Beth Milsom second and Jean O'Loughlin in third place.

In this centenary year of women getting the vote we entered the Pershore Carnival as a walking float, dressed as suffragettes. We were delighted to win first prize – a fantastic ending to our WI year.
