The National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies was set up in 1959 - NAFAS is its’ abbreviated form of use, and one which members of all the 21 Areas within the United Kingdom are used to using.

The NAFAS Headquarters are at Osborne House, Devonshire Square, London.

In 1984 NAFAS was granted charity status in recognition of its’ educational aims and activities. With about 50,000 members NAFAS ranks amongst the most specialist National Associations in the U.K.

Every year each of those 21 Areas holds its’ own Area Day event. It is a huge honour to be asked by Area Council to take on the role of Area Day Chairman.

I was approached by our Council members in Spring 2017 to arrange this event for the Three Counties and South Wales Area of NFAS this year. Such excitement!

For this year I have chosen to use the wonderful facilities of The Evesham Arts Centre and its’ adjacent Prince Henry’s High School. The event will take place over two days - Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th August 2018.

The title of this event is ‘Summer Magic’. Doors open at 9.30am - with NAFAS members travelling in to Evesham from the many Clubs within the Three Counties and South Wales. There will be National Speaker, Susan Horne, at the Theatre during the morning - and her entertainment will be followed midday by a two-course lunch in Prince Henry’s High School. Also within the School will be a Competitions area and various Trade Stands.

In the afternoon the members will return to the Theatre to enjoy a wonderful floral demonstration by the National Demonstrator, Derek Armstrong. Each of the days will end at approximately 4.30pm - possibly slightly later on the second day owing to the presentation of trophies and awards to our Competition winners by our Area President.

We truly hope it will be a day to remember - for all the right reasons!’
