THE last few weeks have been busy. The Annual Duck Race at Kingham, happily, was blessed with fine weather and enjoyed by a substantial crowd. Funds were raised not only for Rotary charities but also by others including “Riding For The Disabled” who helped by providing refreshments.
The Bluebell Walk through parts of the Cornbury Estate normally closed to the public also had good weather and exceptionally splendid bluebells. Walkers raised money for their own charities and donated part towards the Rotary club's designated charities.
The third event was the Christian Aid Week door-to-door collection. Many thanks to the volunteer collectors for their valiant efforts & to all who were so generous with their donations in Kingham, Fulbrook & Burford.
Currently, the club is raising awareness of the Shelter Box (disaster relief) Charity by distributing leaflets (which include donation forms!) in pubs, hotels, etc.. Please give generously if you find one in your locality – or donate via the Internet directly!
In May, club members went to Whistlers Restaurant in Chipping Norton followed by the production of “The Island” at the theatre. Another week, we had a fascinating talk about his life and adventures as a Master Mariner by Mike Clark.
In June the club will be helping with the Carterton “Party in the Park” picnic and BBQ.
Finally, have a great summer everyone!
