OUR meeting in October was ‘Behind the Scenes of St Richards Hospice’ with Tricia Cavell. This was an interesting talk which talked about the history of St Richards Hospice, how it first began and how it has developed over the years. There was something unique about this talk as it was not just Tricia providing the talk but a number of the volunteers and others too. This was part of a living history project with people who had been involved with St Richards Hospice, either working, volunteering or receiving their services, giving an oral account of their experiences which has been recorded and it was these recordings that formed part of the talk. A different type of meeting for us but enjoyable none the less. After the talk, business proceeded as normal with reports being given of our experiences at the Archery & Rifle Shooting Day and at the Murder Mystery evening (the 2 are not connected!). Members were reminded about our usual coffee morning and lunch outing, with advance notice of our Christmas Lunch being given.
