St James’ Church was placed third in this year’s Best Kept Churchyard competition, losing out by a whisker to Astley and Bredon. The members of the Gardening Team, who are responsible for all the hard work that made this possible, will be meeting for a final time this year on Saturday, October 17 between 9.30am-12noon. The group would love to have new members and all are assured a warm welcome and a break around 11am for a chat over a much deserved hot drink.

The July meeting of the Gardening Club saw the members leaving Harvington to visit The Tynings, near Worcester. This garden was open through the NGS. At the September meeting, it felt as though they were being taken out once again, as Adrian Jones gave a very interesting talk on three West Country gardens, which was accompanied by great photographs. The next meeting of the Gardening Club will be on Wednesday, October 28 in the Village Hall when Hilary Twigg will be giving a talk on ‘Easy Rules of Pruning.’ For further information contact Libby 871531
