AT our February meeting we warmly welcomed Yvonne Cocks, Hereford and Worcester’s first female paramedic, who worked in the Ambulance Service for over 30 years, including a stint on the Air Ambulance. She gave an amusing and enthralling talk giving insights into her career; the stresses and anxieties that she encountered and overcame. Yvonne has now moved into working with others to help them find the same relief and freedom she has had to manage: from traumas and phobias experienced in every day life, to overcoming the impact of stressful situations endured through work or personal circumstances. Finally she told us of the voluntary work she does with the charity Healing Hands in this country and more recently in Sarajevo. There were articles and photos from newspapers and her Queen’s Long Service Medal on show.

Our speaker next month will be Sue Johnson - poet, short story writer and novelist – who is coming to speak to us about writing for woman’s magazines. We meet on each first Wednesday of the month in Harvington Village Hall. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, March 1 and we are always pleased to see new members or visitors. We start at 7.45pm and refreshments are included. Come along and join us – all ladies are very welcome! Further details from Barbara on telephone 870791 or Shona 871193.
