EVESHAM based Kathy Moores has just returned from India where she was studying Ayurveda Yoga and is bringing this knowledge back to her classes.
Kathy has been practising and teaching Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga for a number of years but a recent sojourn into darkest India has expanded her knowledge to include this new form, a form that stems from a 5,000-year-old Indian philosophy that translates as life knowledge'.
The aim of Ayurveda is not to follow a strict doctrine but to bring about individual balance as Kathy explained.
"It's all about balance" she said.
"The important thing is to establish what works for you. We have become so used to categorising food into good' and bad' but everyone is different so it's better to look at what is good and bad for you as an individual."
Ayurveda focuses on all aspects of the person, from food to lifestyle and incorporates massage, herbal medicine and yoga exercises.
A whole host of celebrities such as Sting, Demi Moore and Richard Gere have used Ayurveda techniques that attempt to tailor lifestyles to match the individual mind and body types, known as doshas'.
Kathy said: "Ayurveda is amazing because it's so logical.
"It's complex when you first start studying it but there's a simplicity within that complexity that begins to emerge, and you soon realise how much of Ayurveda is grounded in a common sense approach to health and nutrition."
Kathy currently runs consultations and treatments from the Training Station in Evesham and from Chapel Spa in Cheltenham. For more information log onto www.kathymoores.co.uk, or contact her on 07814 396 481.
