BADSEY Recreation Club has been granted a licence to hold adult entertainment after all the objectors to the plans withdrew their opposition.
The club's application for a premises licence was set to go before Wychavon District Council yesterday (7) afternoon but with no objections still relevant, licensing unit leader, Graham Simms was able to grant the application with delegated powers on Thursday, May 1.
There were numerous objectors to the plans at first as the club wished to open longer hours and could potentially hold adult entertainment' nights, which were deemed inappropriate by some local residents.
However each of the objectors has now reached an agreement with the club after some slight amendments to the application revoving around the protection of children and noise arising from entertainment inside the club.
Manager of Badsey Recreation Club, Kevin Rich said: "I am very happy that we have been granted the licence and we can now move the club on. I have been to talk to all of the objectors to the scheme to make sure they are happy and that they can approach me to talk at any time.
"We have agreed to keep in regular contact and I have re-iterated to the residents of Brewers Lane that I will keep them informed of events. I will be handing them a monthly list of events so that they will know which evenings there is likely to be extra traffic and activity."
Under the terms of the licence, Badsey Recreation Club can now open until 12.30am on weeknights and 2am at weekends. It will also be able to accomodate non-members and host a wider range of entertainment.
