BUCKLAND Manor near Broadway celebrated the eve of British Sandwich Week by rustling up a range of tasty treats.

The hotel put together a whole host of sandwiches made from local ingredients to coincide with British Sandwich Week, which starts on Sunday (11) and is running until next Saturday (17).

All the chefs decided to use products that were specifically from their part of the country to make for a variety of mouth-watering creations.

Head chef Matt Hodgkins prepared a warm peppered Cotswold beef sandwich using local beef, with a beetroot, fennel and grain mustard mayonnaise and a confit of tomatoes, all served on homemade white bread with chef's own chunky chips.

The food mileage of the sandwich was under 20 miles with the beef from Mickleton, the vegetables from local farm shops and the tomatoes from just 200 yards away from the Manor.

Nigel Power, from Buckland Manor, said: "This is what makes the sandwiches extra special. All the ingredients are provided by trusted local farmers who really care about their food."
