LAST weekend's Broadway Horse Trials attracted hundreds of entries for what continues to be one of the largest local equestrian events since it began in 2005.
Over 650 competitors turned up at Lybrook Farm to take part in dressage, show jumping and cross country events over two glorious days on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4.
Former international eventer Nigel Tabor established the trials after recognising the need for a competition for introductory and pre-novice level, but the newly constructed cross-country course this year incorporated several extensions to include sections for novice riders as well.
He said: "Luckily the weather held off and it all went very well.
"We had over 650 entries over the two days, and there were lots of different trade stalls from all over the country with a bit of everything which added to the day out.
"The trials themselves went very smoothly, the first was at 8am and the last at 7pm each day, and there were no problems at all.
"This is the third year we have held the trials, and are looking forward to the next event in October."
The winners of this year's Broadway Horse Trials were: Intro Regional Final - Follywood Miss Teak, ridden by Lady Claire Moreton; Intro B - Murrays Lad, ridden by Lorna Wright; Intro C - Endless Step, ridden by Rob Hulbert; Intro D - Seren Goch, ridden by Alicia Hawker; Intro E - Abbotts Murfys Law, ridden by Alicia Hawker; Pre-Novice F - Moreton Hall Laguna, ridden by Felicity Organ; Pre-Novice G - Dutchy Original, ridden by Serena Russell; Pre-Novice L - Cotswold Rival, ridden by Ginny Howe; Pre-Novice M - Newmiln Dakota, ridden by Caroline Moore; Open Pre-Novice - Springrising, ridden by Sarah Hudson and Steel Falcon, ridden by Kimberley Suzanne Harman; Novice H - Castle Larchfield, ridden by Emma Castle; Novice I - Imprint II, ridden by Kate Trowbridge; Novice J - Redford, ridden by Emily Philp; Open Novice K - Uchin, ridden by Dani Evans.
