POLICE are appealing for witnesses after cigarettes were stolen from a lorry delivering to a village Post Office near Evesham.
The incident took place outside the Post Office in Main Street, Bretforton at around 8.45am yesterday..
The lorry driver was unloading goods from the green, Volvo van into the store and was inside the building when two men were seen unloading cigarettes from the back of the vehicle.
The men stole £1,743.50 worth of boxed cigarettes and made off in what is thought to be some kind of silver hatchback car.
Sgt Di Summerton said: "We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at this busy time of day and saw anything suspicious.
"We would also like anyone who was travelling along any of the main roads near to the Post Office to think back as to whether they saw a vehicle matching the given description travelling in the direction of, or away from, the Post Office."
Anyone with information is asked to call Evesham Police on 08457 444 888 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
