PROTESTORS opposed to a 6,000 home eco-town being built at Long Marston are urging Vale residents to attend a public meeting at Evesham Town Hall.

Campaigners against the Middle Quinton bid want people to go to the meeting and hear Better Accessible And Responsible Development campaign's (BARD) objections to the proposed eco-town and put their own views across.

The meeting will take place at 7.30pm next Friday (13) and is being chaired by town mayor Councillor Alan Booth.

Mid-Worcestershire MP Peter Luff will be speaking at the meeting along with leader of Wychavon District Council Cllr Paul Middleborough, managing director of Wychavon Jack Hegarty, chairman of Wychavon and town councillor Jo Sandalls and Warwickshire County Council and Stratford District Councillor Izzi Seccombe.

David Cranage, from BARD, said: "While much debate and press coverage has been given to the impact of the new town at Long Marston on Stratford and Warwickshire, the proposed eco-town and its contruction will also have a major impact on public service, traffic movements and the character of the Vale of Evesham.

"I would urge councillors and parishoners to attend this important meeting."
