It is with utter disbelief that I read in your paper that Pershore Town Council have agreed their budget with £2,000 for fund raising towards the reinstatement of the festoon lights in Christmas 2008.
After all, both the Town Clerk and Councillor Mrs Amphlett have made comments recently in this newspaper dismissing our protest march on Saturday, January 5, 2008 as being "unnecessary" and accusing us of creating a "red herring" to claim that the lights were not back in 2007 because of money because the funding was in place!
Perhaps one of them would be kind enough to give us a public explanation as to why fund raising is necessary when they have claimed that the funding was in place? Perhaps they could also explain why they have chosen to ignore 2,500 people who signed the petition to bring back our original Christmas lights within the Council's existing budget?
