Don’t blame the kids

I HAVE lived in Broadway for more than 30 years, about 500m from the offending bus shelter on the High Street. I do not feel threatened by nor have I ever been disturbed by young people drinking or taking drugs there.

There has been some graffiti from time to time although an annual figure of £400 paid by the parish council to delete and redecorate seems a bit excessive.

What does threaten both my health and my peace of mind and that of my grand and great-grandchildren is the irresponsible anti social behaviour of adult members of Broadway's population who allow their dogs to foul the footpaths and pavements. Funnily enough, I rarely see teenage dog walkers!

By all means pull down the bus shelter, it isn't exactly a great example of Cotswold architecture but don't use sloppy, hysterical over-reaction to a few kids hanging out there to justify it.

DOTTIE FRIEDLI, High Street, Broadway.
