TALKING of plums (Archive Journal, March 6), I remember picking plums as a village lad.
You had to be careful when grasping a plum that there wasn't a wasp on the other side. I've had several nasty wasp stings as a result. Ouch!
Also, you refer to The Wind in the Willows (Countryside Journal, March 13).
Mrs Potter, our teacher at Aston Somerville Junior School, read this children's classic to us all. It made a very deep impression on me. Long live Ratty, Toad and Mole!
